introduction
  The cedar mangrove is very similar to Xylocarpus granatum. Both are members of the Meliaceae family. The main difference is that the fruit and therefore the seeds are smaller. Moreover the roots are different. This type of mangrove has knee-roots like Burguiera gymnorrhiza.

  This type of mangrove is usually found by rivers in the topics where there are low to no levels of salinity.

  This type of mangrove has knee-roots like Bruguiera gymnorrhiza. The roots are called knee-roots because they can reach the knees of an adult. The roots wriggle along the ground.

leaves
  The leaves are dark-green and the stalks are quite thick with a special mechanism that enables them to turn themselves towards the sun. The tree often looks dried-out and dead during dry season and recovers anew every time during the rainy season.

flowers
  This type of mangrove develops small cream-pink blossoms.

fruits
  Here we have a large, round fruit that can contain 8-16 seeds. The fruit is at least the size of a large orange.

seeds
  The seeds are brown and usually have 2 flat surfaces and a round one, with which it forms the typical seeds of the cedar mangrove. These seeds are usually 7cm long. The seed usually has an appendix that is 2-4cm long and has a diameter of 1-2cm. The roots and the young shoot grow out of this appendix.

trunk
  The color of the trunk is brown with a firm bark that splinters off.

  This type of mangrove prefers slightly less marshy grounds than the Rhizophora types.

  Height: up to 20 meters
Temperature: 20 – 40° Celsius
Ideal growing conditions: 50° C; up to 90% humidity; 70-90% sunlight
Grows in nature, unlike many kinds of mangroves not directly at the ocean.
